Meet the Therapist:

My name is Jennifer Shelden-Jubik and thank you for checking out my sight! A little about me:

  • LLPC (Limited License Practicing Counselor)
  • CAAC (certified advanced addictions counselor)
  • EAP (equine assisted therapy) certified
  • ACA member (American Counseling Association)

Horses are something special to me, due to the inner peace I experience when I am with them, and the lessens they teach me in how to continue succeeding in my life goals.

Like many of us, we have had hardships, and sometimes we do not feel like anyone hears us. With research done in this field there has been evidence that animals do in fact heal our souls, unconditionally. An article was recently published through the American Counseling Association educating people in how horses are effective tools in healing people. The article is called: "Straight from the Horses Mouth." Go to: www.americancounselingassociation.org and type in the article search box to view.

My hope in doing this work will empower everyday people to gain insight within themselves, and obtain these powerful tools to overcome the issues that hold them back in what we call, Life.

Our Horses.....

Why Horses?

Horses are powerful and large creatures and it is known that people who work around them have increased assertiveness, responsibility, effective communication skills and a healthier work ethic. With that in mind, why not add horses to a therapeutic session? Horses are very much like humans due to them being social animals. Like us, they have defined roles within their families, distinctive personalities, attitudes, moods and they like to be with their peers. In knowing this, horses provide vast opportunities for metaphorical learning. Horses also require work, whether it is caring for them or working with them, and we are living in a society where everything is at our fingertips by a push of a button. Horses require people to be engaged in physical and mental activity in order to be successful, which now a days is considered a valuable characteristic in life.
